Grout colour FAQs

What grout colour should I choose for my tiles?
It comes down to the look you want. A grout close to your tile colour gives a soft, seamless finish; a contrasting grout highlights each tile and emphasises the layout; and a darker grout gives a bold, contemporary look and hides everyday dirt. Use the visualiser above to preview your tile with every Ardex and Sika colour before you decide.
Should I use a light or dark grout?
Light grout keeps a bright, uniform appearance and suits light or patterned tiles, though it shows dirt more in high-traffic areas. Dark grout is easier to keep looking clean, defines the tile pattern and works beautifully with dark or feature tiles. Match it to the room and how much contrast you want.
How much grout do I need?
It depends on your tile size, joint width, tile thickness and the total area. Use the grout calculator on this page for a quick estimate, then add 10–15% for wastage. For large projects, confirm with the product data sheet or ask our team.
What is the difference between Ardex and Sika grout?
Both are premium cementitious grouts for walls and floors. Ardex FG8 / FS-DD and Sika SikaCeram-690 Elite are fast-setting, colour-consistent and suitable for indoor, outdoor and wet-area tiling, including pools. The main difference is the colour range — compare both in the visualiser above.
Can I use the same grout for walls and floors?
Yes. The grouts featured here are designed for both wall and floor applications across a 1–10 mm joint range. Just match the grout to your joint width and substrate.
